Process & results

Vapor blasting uses a combination of glass bead, air pressure and water pressure in a special cabinet to remove decades of corrosion and grime. Because the media is suspended in water, it's far gentler than dry sandblasting — it cleans without pitting the surface or altering tolerances.

A clean, even satin finish that looks like the part just rolled off the assembly line. It stands out most on aluminum and brass, and leaves steel, plastic and rubber looking very clean.

No — the process does not damage bearing surfaces. Bearings and moving parts do need to be removed before the part goes in the cabinet.

Parts & prep

Aluminum, steel, plastic, rubber and brass are all safe. If it can fit in our cabinet, we can do it.

Complete disassembly, with bearings, seals and moving parts removed. Don't worry about heavy grease and grime — our heated, high-powered parts washer takes care of the worst of it before blasting.

Yes — in addition to ultrasonic cleaning we vapor hone them. It requires complete teardown, but the end product is worth it, even on a mild restoration.

Pricing & turnaround

Every job is quoted on the part — type, size, condition and coatings all move the number. Send a few photos and we'll come back with a real range, not a guess.

We're a working shop and quote honest turnarounds when we see the parts — full engines and batches take longer than single covers.

Fill out the estimate form with photos, or email us directly at contact@wellsmoto.com to get the process started.
